H2

The Hasselblad H2 is a medium-format, dual-platform camera that builds on the success of the popular H1. This model, designed for the toughest professional use, makes either high-end digital capture or film capture as easy as point-and-shoot.

Full range of high performance lenses

H lenses cover a wide spectrum of focal lengths and feature the fastest and most precise 645 autofocus system on the market today. The integral lens shutters allow flash sync down to 1/800 second and provide silent and vibration-free operation.

Superior views

The H2 produces a surprisingly crisp and clear image. It represents a near 100% view for accurate composition. The 90’ viewfinder has diopter adjustment for vision correction with an eyepiece large enough for full image view even when wearing glasses.

Customizable

The H2 presently includes 30 functions that can be custom-tailored by the user. A ‘Profiles’ function is included to provide a fool-proof way of making set-up changes for various situations or applications. This ‘profile’ can then later be recalled with another simple button click, saving you time and, perhaps most importantly, preventing crucial mistakes from happening.

Advanced flash features

The viewfinder also features an integral compact flash primarily intended to be used as a fill flash.

But with the SCA 3902 flash adapter, any flash compatible with the SCA3002 system can be used to provide the greatest freedom of choice. A built-in flash metering system for manually controlled flashes, such as studio flashes, is also provided.

Advanced film options

The film back for the H2 camera features inserts than can handle both 120 and 220 film with automatic film type and ISO value setting when using Fuji bar coded film. The customizable imprinting feature allows data, such as exposure parameters, to be printed along the film edge and outside of the image area. It can include a user selectable text string that will also be printed on the film edge.

A powerful digital combination

Combining an H2 with a CF digital back provides you with a number of features that place high-end digital capture into a league of its own.

The H2/CF combination camera allows digital capture using sensors more than twice the physical size of today’s 35mm sensors. These larger sensors hold more and larger pixels, which ensures the highest possible image quality and moiré free color rendering without gradation break-ups - in even the most subtly lit surfaces and with low noise in shadow areas.

The H2/CF combination also provides access to Instant Approval Architecture (IAA), an enhanced set of feedback tools, designed to allow you to focus on your shooting rather than the selection process. IAA triggers audible and visible signals for each image captured, immediately telling you whether the image has an approved, rejected, or borderline status.

In conjunction with the FlexColor imaging software that accompanies a CF digital back, Hasselblad has also helped solve the dilemma of picking the correct profile for the job in hand, with the development of one new, powerful color profile. This profile – the Hasselblad Natural Color Solution (HNCS) - works invisibly in the background and produces outstanding and reliable out-of-the-box results, reproducing difficult colors easily and effectively.

A future-safe investment

The software in the H2 camera is easily upgradeable, meaning that existing cameras will be able to gain new features simply by upgrading the camera firmware. The H2 camera is built to the same, extremely strict standards that have always has been used by Hasselblad, ensuring a long life even with tough use. However, all cameras, just like cars, require regular service to function optimally. Naturally, as with all Hasselblad products, the new H2 gives you access to the full range of Hasselblad service and support, ensuring that your investment will last you a long time to come.

Focusing modes: Manual with optional focus indication in viewfinder, Single shot AF and Continuous AF. Focus lock available in AF modes either with shutter release or any of the four programmable buttons.

Metering options: Spot, Center weighted and Average.

Metering range: Spot: EV2 to 21, Center weighted: EV1 to 21, Average: EV1 to 21. Exposure adjustment from -5 to +5 EV in 1/3 stops. Exposure lock with separate button.

Exposure modes: Manual, Aperture priority, Shutter speed priority, Programmed and Programmed Variable.

Automatic bracketing: Choice of 2, 3, 5, 7 or 9 frames. 1/3, 1/2 or 1 EV step. Exposure sequence can be changed.

Interval timer: Up to 255 frames. Interval can be set from 1 second to 1 hours.

Multi exposure: Number of exposures can be set to 2, 3, 4, 5 and no limit (with film magazine only).

Flash control: Automatic TTL centre weighted system. Uses built-in flash or flashes compatible with SCA3002 (Metz™). Output can be adjusted from -3 to +3 EV in 1/3 stops. ISO range 16 to 6400 (excluding any exposure adjustment)

For manual flashes a built-in metering system is available.

Flash can be used at all shutter speeds. Flash can be synchronized in the beginning or at the end of the exposure.

Flash sync connection: TTL hot-shoe on viewfinder or standard PC connector on camera body.

Film types: 120 full (16 exposures), 120 half-length (8 exposures) or 220 type film (32 exposures). Automatic setting of ISO and film type when using Barcoded film. Automatic film wind-on and wind-off.

Interchangeable film magazine with insert for both 120 and 220 film type. Integral curtain type dark slide.

Multi mode data imprinting outside image area.

Camera displays: Two dot-matrix LCD’s, one on the camera grip and one in the viewfinder. One segment base LCD on the magazine.
